In this animation we look at what chronic pain is, and what you can do about getting rid of it.
Pain is a bodily response that is supposed to help you – the brain alerts you when something is wrong, so you can fix it. However, chronic pain- pain that lasts more than 3 months, is no longer protective and informative, and is actually damaging. More than 1/3 of people with chronic pain become disabled by it to some extent. Chronic pain is the second most common reason that people see a doctor.
Chronic pain can actually be our brain causing us to feel pain, even when not necessary. This can be retrained, however, and some keys to doing this are: knowing when you started to be in pain, what helps it and hurts it, staying active, eating healthy, sleeping well, and staying positive.
The focus of chiropractic is to keep the spine active, which can keep your body in communication with your brain, which can help people with neck pain, back pain, and headaches.
